A week at Antique Metals

Last week saw the restoration of copper Victorian lantern, one of the sides had come detached and was bent, while the base of the lantern was a mangled mess. All the sides where removed and the steel rods running through the copper were un-soldered and replaced has they were very rusty and broken. The whole lot was soldered back together, new tags to retain glass and a handle for the door was also made.

We had a small candelabra in which had a broken drip pan which was repaired.
A pair of lighting interiors where made for 2 copper lanterns.

Weekly insight

This is the first of many weekly insights to what happens in the workshop of Antique Metals.
This week as been a bit slow, the restoration of a large bronze chandelier has come to an end. A set of 8 back plates were made for an antique chest, a key was made for an old lock a long with 2 escutcheons. We had delivery of a Victorian copper lantern which has seen better days but with restoration will look lovely again.
